Jamaat Islami Pakistan, a component of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal demanded for freezing the accounts of District and Tehsil administrations and appointment of administrators to run the business of local council till fresh elections for holding free, fair and impartial elections otherwise Nazimeen and Naib Nazimeen would exploit the public resources and offices to manipulate the election.

Punjab JI naib amir and parliamentary leader Dr Waseem Akhtar stated this in his address to the workers and office bearers here on Wednesday that Member of National and Provincial Assemblies are also trying to occupy these institutions through their supporters and they would use the Patwaris, Thanedars and other coercive tactics to win the elections. Opposition parties including MMA would not let anyone to manipulate the election results and it would resist forcefully.

He asked the workers to prepare themselves for forthcoming Local bodies election and detect the bogus voters, or those who had been died or left the area so that bogus voting could be checked.

The JI office bearers led by Punjab JI political committee president Zafar Jamal Baloch, South Punjab political committee president MPA Chaudhry Asghar Gujjar, Khurshid Khan Kanjoo, MPA Dr Waseem Akhtar, Rao Zafar Iqbal and Mian Munir Bodhla would start visit to 12 districts from February 11 to review the situation for taking part in local bodies polls.

The office bearers would visit 12 districts include Rahimyar Khan, Bahawalpur, Lodhran, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Layyah, Bhukkur, Muzaffargarh, Multan, Khanewal and Vehari.

The JI would hold local bodies convention in Multan and Dera Ghazi Khan on February 25 and in Bahawalpur by February 27 and nazims, naib nazims and large numbers of councillors have been invited for attending these conventions. The Punjab JI meeting also decided for holding South Punjab organisational convention in Multan on February 6.

Speaking on the occasion Punjab JI naib Amir Dr Waseem Akhtar said that political committee have been constituted at district, tehsil and union council level for deciding selecting the local bodies candidates, besides that these committees would design strategy for local body elections.

Dr Akhtar commented that President Musharraf has lost his right of rule after his failure in fulfilling his commitments made with MMA on removal of uniform. General Musharraf should leave Presidency and go back to his home for election of new President of Pakistan.

He also criticised power use in Balochistan and demanded the government should seek its peaceful solution through dialogues.

Meanwhile, ex-MNA Justice Sheikh Khizar Hayat while addressing an Eid Millan party said this would be essential to prevent from General Musharraf to end the ongoing constitutional and country's crises. He said the MMA was struggling for the supremacy of constitution, rule of law and justice.
